The under-23 national wrestling team won 15 places for the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games, after an excellent participation in the Pan American Championship of the discipline, held in Querétaro, Mexico, from April 10 to 12.

The Criollos won 10 medals in that championship: three gold, three silver and four bronze, reaching 16.67% of the places awarded for Asunción 2025, according to the Ministry of Sport press.

The Venezuelan team was made up of 18 fighters in the different modalities: Greco-Roman, women's free and men's free.

In the Greco-Roman style, Venezuela ranked third on the overall podium with a total of 110 points, after the six participants: Dieymer Rosal (60 kg), Jonathan Bermúdez (67 kg), Darfel Parada (77 kg), Brian Ruiz (87 kg), Juan Díaz (97 kg) and Luis Talavera (130 kg) managed to qualify for the Youth Pan-American Championship, winning five medals: two gold, one silver and two bronze.

For the women's free division, there were five places won by Astrid Montero (62 kg), Nohalis Loyo (50 kg), Mariana Rojas (53 kg), Victoria Esparragoza (76 kg) and Alexa Álvarez. They also won three medals: one gold, one silver and one more bronze, taking fifth place in the ranking with 82 units.

Booksellers José Falcón (57 kg), Steven Rodríguez, Jeremy Urrieta and Víctor Parra (65 kg) captured four tickets and two medals: one silver and one bronze. This allowed them to take sixth place with a 63-point mark.
