Traffic in Gold and Wildlife Denounced by FAV Pilots

(EL MUNDO, September 14, 1993 and EL NACIONAL, January 17, 1993)

  • Through the NGO FUNDAFACI, a philanthropic non-profit foundation founded from the Miraflores Palace by Cecilia Matos and Carlos Andrés Pérez in their second government to provide free medical assistance and social assistance to indigenous populations in remote Venezuelan jungles, hundreds of kilos of gold and thousands of specimens of high-value exotic species were smuggled into international markets.
  • In the flight plans, given by Mrs. Cecilia Matos, they would supposedly return to Caracas with “seriously ill” indigenous people and boxes sealed with blood samples, back these metal containers brought only gold. No sick indigenous people were part of the loot on board.
  • Regarding the seriously ill natives, upon returning from these trips, Mrs. Matos said that “they were in such poor health that it was better to let them die in their land”.
  • This looting, which was already public and notorious, was reaffirmed in the complaints filed by officers of the Venezuelan Air Force (FAV): Luis Reyes Reyes, William Fariñas, Luis Manuel Jatar and Wilmar Castro Soteldo.
  • Evidence of this assault on our jungles, carried out with full hands by the presidential couple and a former minister named Brewer Carias, was found in news books and flight logs, where it was recorded that no person of any indigenous ethnicity received medical assistance or social assistance.
  • On the other hand, the airplanes full of armored straws filled with gold and thousands of endangered specimens of wildlife and aquatic fauna, valued at thousands of dollars, did return.
  • The names of a group of North American scientists who infiltrated these flights were also recorded, brought to extract the ancient wisdom accumulated over centuries by our original inhabitants, and then convert it into patents registered in the name of transnational pharmaceutical companies.
  • In addition, during these flights, “mining witnesses”, or samples from the subsoil at different depths, were heavily trafficked with information about the mineral wealth of our Amazon and Guiana forests.
  • Macaws, for example, were illegally trafficked inside tubes used for university diplomas. Many of whom arrived dead by asphyxiation in the countries receiving smuggling (USA).
  • The truth is that FUNDAFACI, and its new president, were allegedly seen rescuing seriously ill Indians in the Orinoco Delta, in the Guiana jungles and south of the Edo. Hurry up. On each trip, the flight returned loaded with gold or exotic animals and in all of them the natives of those areas, in need of medical assistance, because “it was better to let them die in their land”.
