On March 5, 2011, the fierce revolutionary Lina Ron died in Caracas due to a myocardial infarction.

Considered to be one of the most important female figures in the Bolivarian Revolution and one of the most appreciated by Commander Hugo Chávez.

Within the revolutionary ranks, Ron was one of the most radical and at the same time popular social leaders, who dedicated her life to the fight for the most dispossessed and oppressed.

At 27 years of age, he moved to Caracas, where he became a member of the Popular Struggle Committees and fought against injustices against students and other sectors of society. In 1999, he joined the revolutionary ranks in favor of Commander Hugo Chávez.

Although his cause on the Venezuelan left had been fighting for years in the Committees of Popular Struggles, it was with the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States that Ron made himself known for an act in front of the U.S. Embassy in Caracas.

In 2004, he founded the Venezuelan Popular Unity (UPV) party, which from the beginning expressed its unrestricted support for Commander Hugo Chávez's Bolivarian Revolution.

During the events in honor of this revolutionary heroine, Commander Chávez said: “The people declare you eternally alive. Hurray! You won't die. We declare you alive, as alive you will be forever in the struggles of the people, in the song of the people, in the battles of the people and in the victories of the people... Forever!”

“Lina is one of the people that Commander Chávez loved and loved the most in his life, she was able to give her life just as I am saying for the life of Commander Chávez and as if fate knew and she commanded it (...) A lot of Linas are needed,” said the first vice-president of the PSUV, Diosdado Cabello on March 11, 2020.
