DURING KISSINGER'S VISIT TO VENEZUELA

(EL IMPULSO, EL NACIONAL, LATEST NEWS and RUPTURE, February 16, 17 and 18, 1976)

  • During the visit of the Secretary of State of the United States (USA), Henry Kissinger, to Venezuela, agents of the Municipal Police of San Felipe del Edo. Yaracuy and the National Guard in Caracas fired at discretion at demonstrations protesting the presence of someone who was declared “non grata persona” by Venezuelan students.
  • On February 14, 1976, in San Felipe, students Lilia Gutiérrez, 16, and Nelson Rodríguez, 18, were shot dead when several municipal police officers came to the doors of the Liceo Rómulo Gallegos to evict those who were protesting the Kissinger presence in Miraflores.
  • In a second attack on educational facilities, police platoons managed to tear down the bars of the high school and then the doors of the classrooms to disperse the students.
  • Two days later, Carlos Alberto Vielma Blanco, 15, in Caracas, fell victim to a bullet in the chest while on his way to the Central Madeirense supermarket on January 23. The young man was studying high school at the Manuel Palacios Fajardo High School in that area. Uniformed members of the National Guard gave a loud voice to a group of demonstrators when they heard the detonation that ended the life of the young student. He died at the Peripheral Hospital of Catia.
  • That same week, the 45th edition of RUPTURA reported the arrest, torture and murder of the student Francisco Javier Davisson Guillén, at the hands of agents of the Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (DISIP).
  • Kissinger was declared “non grata persona”, since his presence was an affront to the dignity of the Latin American peoples, given his participation in the planning and execution of the coup against Salvador Allende and his involvement in crimes against humanity in Cambodia, which place him in the gallery of great genocides in the world, competing with Adolf Hitler in this category.
  • This occurred during the first government of Carlos Andrés Pérez, in the midst of widespread protests throughout Venezuela, which were repressed with blood and fire by him.
