Lavrov: Russia will defend its security interests regardless of the election result in the US

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, assured that the Government of the Eurasian country will defend its national security interests, regardless of who wins the presidential elections in the United States.

During an interview with the American newspaper Newsweek, Lavrov said that the Russian Government does not care about the results of the elections in Washington because “there is a bipartisan consensus in the United States on the confrontation with Russia.”

“If something changes in American politics” and Washington sends corresponding proposals, Russia is willing to study them, Lavrov stressed.

The Republican candidate, former president Donald Trump (2017-2021), will face the current vice-president, Kamala Harris, for the democratic side on November 5, according to a press release from Sputnik.
