The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov, criticized this Tuesday the “contemptuous attitude” of the West, led by the United States (USA), regarding the internal affairs of Venezuela, with hostile actions and ignorance following the swearing in of President Nicolás Maduro for the period 2025-2031.

From Moscow, in statements to the media, the Russian Foreign Minister accused Western countries of being “obscured” by an alleged superiority and self-appointed right to decide global destinies.

Lavrov pointed out that the position of the United States and some of its Latin American lackeys to recognize the fugitive Edmundo González as president of Venezuela, despite the inauguration of Maduro as legitimate president, reflects their conception of democracy reduced to “doing what they want.”

The Russian diplomat stressed that these practices show “hypocrisy, lack of respect for people and an overestimation of their own intellectual capacities”.
