A landslide in a popular tourist destination in the Malaysian state of Pahang left one dead and four more victims are believed to have been buried early this Friday morning.

Authorities received a distress call at 02:51 local time (1851 GMT) for the disaster that struck the Cameron Highlands district, Ismail Abdul Ghani, deputy director of the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, said in a statement.

“Based on preliminary information, three adult men and one woman were still buried after the landslide,” he said, adding that search and rescue groups have been sent to the site.
