This Friday, Financial Times, citing people familiar with Argentina, highlighted that they are considering following in the footsteps of Donald Trump, president of the United States (USA), with the possibility of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement, which was originally ratified at the annual United Nations Climate Conference in 2015.

Russia Today (RT) explained that according to the sources, the neoliberal government of Javier Milei has not yet taken the decision, but they have asserted that “it is likely” that the president will end up following in the footsteps of the United States, which abandoned the agreement after Trump came to power.

If that were the case, Argentina would become the second nation of the nearly 200 that signed the pact to announce their withdrawal.

The newspaper recalls that the withdrawal of the Paris Agreement requires the approval of the Argentine Congress, but Milei has often evaded the legislative body through emergency decrees.
