The Secretary General of the Presidency of Argentina, Karina Milei, was criminally accused of alleged crimes of bribery, influence peddling and violation of the Public Ethics Act, within the framework of the $LIBRA crypto scam.
The complaint, reported on the Telesur website, promoted by the deputies of the Civic Coalition, Monica Frade and Maximiliano Ferraro, points to Karina Milei, sister of Argentine President Javier Milei, as the person in charge of asking for bribes, backed by private chats that involve people close to the presidential environment.
Legislators stress that, in her role as Secretary General of the Presidency and with the use of her family relationship, Karina Milei would have influenced the president's interview schedule and participated in possible cryptocurrency fraud.
In addition, Frade and Ferraro have expanded the accusations against Karina Milei, identifying her as the key person in coordinating meetings between President Javier Milei and the promoters of the controversial cryptocurrency $LIBRA.
According to testimonies presented to the United States Justice, businessman Diógenes Casares confirmed that a senior official received bribes in exchange for the President spreading cryptocurrency on his social networks.
In addition, several testimonies suggest that Karina Milei acted as an intermediary to bring businessmen closer to the president, including the case of a goldsmith who reported having paid 2,000 American dollars to secure an audience with the President.
Legislators demand a thorough investigation of the case, as they suspect that Karina Milei could be using her public influence for personal and family benefit.
Legislators cite the Public Ethics Act, which prohibits public officials from receiving undue personal benefits and requires that their actions be oriented to general welfare.
