This Tuesday, the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, said that “journalists have to be truth activists” and stressed that if he is free it is because he pleaded “guilty of having done journalism”.
During an intervention at the Council of Europe, Assange stated: “I want to be totally clear: I am not free because the system worked. I am free, after years of imprisonment, because I pleaded guilty to having done journalism.”
The founder of Wikileaks said: “I pleaded guilty to seeking information from a source. I pleaded guilty to obtaining information from a source and pleaded guilty to informing the public what that information was. I haven't pleaded guilty to anything else.”
