On June 28, 1942, José Manuel “Chema” Saher was born, a social fighter who fought against the repression of the government of Rómulo Betancourt.

He was a human rights activist who decided to be part of the fight by joining the Armed Forces for National Liberation (FALN) to counteract the inequalities imposed by the Adeca-Copeyan alliance.

Chema earned the respect of his friends for his great capacity for combat spirit by confronting on several occasions those who were part of the dictatorship disguised as democracy.

On March 23, 1967, Chema was assassinated when he was only 25 years old and was shot by Digepol in the mountains of El Bachiller, Miranda state.

82 years after his birth, he is remembered as a revolutionary who gave his life to build a more just society for future generations.
