On February 25, 1778, the Liberating Father of Argentina and pro-independence hero of our America, José de San Martín, was born in Yapeyú, a general who fought glorious battles in southern lands to achieve the independence of the provinces of the Rio de la Plata, and collaborated with the libertarian struggles in Chile.

This struggle of San Martín took him to the lands of Peru, where after several battles he managed to defeat the forces of the Spanish empire, which then returned as a result of the betrayals that occurred within the Peruvian political and military caste, breaking the nascent independence.

San Martín, together with the Liberator Simon Bolivar, led the largest independence movement that humanity has ever known, which led them to liberate almost all of South America, a greatness that led them to hold a historic meeting on July 26, 1822 in the city of Guayaquil, an event known as the “Embrace of the Giants of the South”.

After obtaining the glory of free peoples, as a result of the betrayals that swelled on the continent against the Liberators, José de San Martín was forced to go into exile in France, where he died on August 17, 1850 at the age of 72 in the city of Paris.

The repatriation of the mortal remains took place on May 28, 1880, and they were placed in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires.

Today, 246 years after the birth of this Giant of Our America, the Argentine people raise their flags of struggle against imperialism and the political classes that, submissive to the rule of their masters, promote poverty and misery among the majority.

“When the homeland is in danger, everything is allowed, except not defending it”, José de San Martín.
