JOSÉ ANTONIO AGUILAR WAS SHOT BY AGENTS OF RAÚL LEONI'S GOVERNMENT

- During the Long and Final Operation, ordered by Raúl Leoni in the two. Lara, Portuguesa, Trujillo and Barinas; José Antonio Aguilar “La Chera” was arrested in El Tocuyo on April 4, 1965, accused of being a collaborator of the guerrillas.
- From there, he was transferred to several hamlets and towns in the state of Lara, to identify subversives and provide information about possible “contacts”.
- After being “routed” through that area, the agents of the General Police Directorate (Digepol), not obtaining data or reports from Aguilar, proceeded to torture, shoot and disappear him in the Barbacoas area.
- This crime was due to the complaint of the traitor Antonio José Guédez Pérez “Daniel”, a former guerrilla fighter who had surrendered to the army on January 15 of that year.
- Since then, he has been acting under the orders of his immediate boss, Lieutenant Colonel Bernardo Antonio Rigores, commander of the TO-3 of El Tocuyo.
- That same day, the brothers Edilio, Tito and José Rojas were shot, who were also accused of being part of the guerrilla group that operated in the sector bordering the Edo. Portuguese known as Guárico.
- During the Long and Final Operation, more than 30 innocent people were killed, mostly peasants, victims of government agents, on charges of being guerrilla links.
