Venezuela has rejoined the World Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) with full rights and is part of a delegation participating in the 153rd Assembly of that body, which is being held until October 9 in Tanzania, said the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez.
“Venezuela has re-entered the World Inter-Parliamentary Union with full rights,” Rodríguez said in an audiovisual material released on his social networks, in which he explained that the return began after conversations held with the organization's general secretary last September.
The Venezuelan delegation is made up of the second vice-president of the AN, Grecia Colmenares, and deputies José Gregorio Correa and Saúl Ortega. In the audiovisual, the Executive Committee of the IPU was observed to accept the participation of the AN designated by the People in 2025.
Rodríguez pointed out that the Venezuelan Parliament returns to the space from which it was separated due to political polarization. “We are once again with full rights, making the voice of the Venezuelan Parliament heard before the world's parliaments,” he concluded.
