Jorge Rodríguez: Brotherhood of Venezuela and Mexico was born on the example of Simon Bolivar

This Sunday, March 17, the president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, stressed that the brotherhood of Venezuela and Mexico is deepening the thought and example of the Father of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar.
“Brotherhood among the free peoples of America, brotherhood in the glorious example of the greatest man on the American continent, who on a day like today received the honor of the Congress of the United Mexican States of being declared a Mexican citizen the Mexican citizen and universal Simón José Antonio Bolívar Palacios y Blanco”, were the words of Rodríguez to begin the Solemn Session of the AN on the occasion of the Commemoration of the Bicentennial of the Designation of the Liberator as a Mexican citizen.
He also extended his thanks and welcome to the Mexican delegation in Venezuela, as well as highlighted the importance of this historic date that both peoples commemorate today.
“A day like today is a day for encounter, for embrace, for solidarity and generosity, a day like today, is a day when peoples intertwine their destinies, intertwine their history and are entrusted to the search for the square, integration, sovereignty, self-determination and independence,” he said.
Rodríguez also recognized the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, for being courageous, strong, honest, fighting, good and exemplary men for their Peoples.
He confirmed that this is a day to reaffirm that “yes we can be free and equal, that we can raise our voices with the political and social approaches, ideals and systems that our peoples use, that we can shake off the yoke of oppressive empires, that we can defeat the chains of the yokes of empires, as the Liberator Simon Bolivar defeated the empire that existed on this planet for up to 200 years”.
For that reason, he emphasized that today Venezuela and Mexico merge in an embrace of brotherhood and thank that 200 years ago our Liberator received that great honor from the Mexican people.
“Bring the embrace of our hearts to the people of Mexico,” Rodríguez urged the Mexican delegation that accompanied this solemn act at the Federal Legislative Palace.
