Japan: Magnitude 5.8 earthquake shakes Fukushima

This Thursday, the magnitude 5.8 earthquake shook Fukushima prefecture in Japan, with no casualties or material damage reported, according to the local Meteorological Agency.

The entity explained that the epicenter of the earthquake was located off the coast of the aforementioned region, 50 kilometers deep. However, despite the force of the earthquake, no tsunami hazard was declared.

The highest perceptibility rates were recorded in the villages of Kawamata and Naraha, where the Fukushima Daini nuclear power plants are located.

Faced with concern, the Tokyo Electric Power Company TEPCO reported that there were no anomalies in the power plants.
