Through the Oncology Route, more than 580 cancer patients
received free care in the three chemotherapy units in the state of La
Guaira.
Dr. Leidy Moreno, coordinator of the Oncology Route, said that “
access to quality cancer treatment is a priority. Thanks to this care
circuit, patients receive chemotherapy at no cost, with guaranteed
medications through the Venezuelan Social Security Institute (IVSS).”
In addition,
he explained that the health system has a multidisciplinary team of
specialists composed of oncologists, hematologists, endocrinologists,
nutritionists and psychologists, guaranteeing comprehensive treatment at no cost.
“Cancer
patients in La Guaira receive treatment at the Rafael
Medina Jiménez Hospital in Pariata, the Hugo Chávez Comprehensive Health Center and the Vargas de La Guaira
Hospital. In these specialized centers, in addition to medical
care, the drugs used in chemotherapy are
supplied through the IVSS high-cost pharmacy, located in the Vargas
Hospital,” reported the web portal of the newspaper Última Noticias.
