Colombian senator Iván Cepeda Castro, a member of the parliamentary block Historical Pact, denounced that the citizen mobilization called for this Wednesday will take place in rejection of the policies of President Abelardo de la Espriella and in the face of the official intimidation measures deployed before the street days.
According to information highlighted in Telesur, the congressman warned through his digital platforms that the enactment of Decree 1525 of 2026 constitutes a government strategy of intimidation, aimed at expanding the use of public force, restricting channels of dialogue and making possible the criminalization of social protest in the country.
The parliamentarian opposed the current protocol of state repression with the democratic orientation of the administration of former President Gustavo Petro, a phase in which institutional guarantees for popular consultation prevailed and the death toll due to the actions of the security forces was avoided.
In calling on citizens to support the national day, Senator Iván Cepeda ratified the commitment of progressive forces, writing that “today we will take to the streets in a peaceful, massive, decisive and dignified manner. We are not going to allow the arbitrariness of an authoritarian regime”, reaffirming popular resistance to the repressive turn of the Executive.
