The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, rejected HAMAS's proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

“Giving in to the illusory demands of Hamas will result in another massacre,” Netanyahu said at a news conference.

Netanyahu's statements came hours after Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls Gaza, presented a series of conditions in response to the proposed truce achieved with the mediation of Qatar.

The proposal included the exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners and the reconstruction of Gaza, which has been devastated by Israeli attacks. HAMAS also seeks the total withdrawal of Israeli forces and an end to the current war, and proposed a three-phase ceasefire plan, each lasting 45 days.

Netanyahu reiterated his position that Israel will continue the war until it achieves “a total victory” over HAMAS. “Tonight I came here to tell you one thing: We are on our way to a total victory. Victory is within reach. It's not a matter of years, but of months,” he said.
