The Navy of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution Corps of Iran (IRGC) has warned that it will sanction and apply severe measures to all ships or supertankers that sail through the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf with their navigation and positioning systems deliberately deactivated.
According to information published by Telesur, the military warning came after the explosion of an oil tanker that tried to cross an unauthorized route in the southern sector of the maritime crossing with its identification equipment turned off, hitting a naval mine.
The Persian authorities explained that this type of irregular maneuver seeks to evade the traffic restrictions applied in the strategic corridor, which were re-established in response to the blockade and sanctions imposed by the United States Government against the ports of the Asian country.
The Iranian naval forces reiterated that strict compliance with electronic identification protocols and authorized routes is essential to prevent accidents, protect the marine ecosystem and ensure operational security in the international energy flow.
