The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, indicated that if Europe adopts an independent approach to its international politics, relations with the Persian country would improve.

Kanaani , during a weekly press conference, indicated that Iran considers Europe an important region in its foreign relations, and the current “cold atmosphere” in bilateral ties is attributed to Europe's “miscalculations” with regard to Iran and to the pressure exerted by the United States, according to a note from Xinhua.

Also, the Persian diplomat stressed that the change in the United States government is not relevant, while stressing the cold position of Europe and the North American nation in the face of the election of Masoud Pezeshkian as the ninth president of Iran on July 6.
