Every March 8, International Women's Day is celebrated, a date recognized by the United Nations (UN), in which women are vindicated for their achievements achieved through their struggles for equal conditions and opportunities in society, for their integral development, in addition to their political, social and economic participation in society.
On this date, tribute is paid to women's struggles, for their equal participation in the world of work and in society in general. Its announcement came after the proposal of the German communist leader Clara Zetkin, a member of the International Union of Garment Workers, who proposed to celebrate an annual day of universal action for the rights of peace and social progress of all women.
In Venezuela, this day began to be celebrated during the Government of Isaías Medina Angarita in 1944, with the massive participation of women, who carry their slogans, highlighted their fighting goals, in addition to demanding equal opportunities.
70 years later, there is still a call to continue working together for a better and fairer society.
In our country, since the arrival of Supreme Commander Hugo Chávez, significant advances have been intensified and deepened in order to consolidate gender equality and equity, making it visible on the basis of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, giving rise to a boom in the protection of women's rights.
