International Human Rights Day: Vindicated in Venezuela by the Revolution

On December 10, the International Day of Human Rights (DHH) is celebrated around the world in commemoration of the approval of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) in 1948, which reflected respect for life and the dignity of the human person and the foundations for freedom, justice and peace in the world.

On this day in many parts of the world there are different outdoor activities in which all those people who wish to do so can participate as a sign of respect for others and as a demonstration that all people are equal. There are also various dedicated activities for children to learn to play and to share their own with other children.

The promotion and protection of human rights was one of the greatest concerns for the UN since 1945, when the founding countries of the organization agreed to prevent the horrors of the Second World War from being reproduced.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is based on principles of freedom and equality and places special emphasis on the need to develop an order of justice at the international level that guarantees the full validity of the rights contemplated therein.

In Venezuela, the Bolivarian Revolution led by Commander Chávez was concerned with vindicating the rights of the people and has fought to maintain social programs that deepen the equality, inclusion, justice and freedom of each of the Venezuelans. Leaving in oblivion the policies of the governments of the Fourth Republic that violated the principles contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
