The Government of Mexico presented this Tuesday the public security balance for the first two years of President Claudia Sheinbaum's administration, highlighting a 52% reduction in the daily average of intentional homicides between September 2024 and September 2026 throughout the country.
During the presentation of the crime incidence report based on data from the 32 state prosecutors, the head of the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System, Marcela Figueroa, specified that the daily number of fatalities fell from 86.9 to 42.2 cases, reaching the lowest monthly record in the last eleven years.
The government report emphasized that the policy of comprehensive attention to the structural causes of violence and the fight against impunity also allowed a 36% reduction in high-impact crimes, counteracting the focus of crime in seven key entities such as Guanajuato, Baja California and Sinaloa.
To consolidate advances in social peace and institutional sovereignty, the federal administration ratified the strengthening of public educational infrastructure with more than 400 new high schools and the construction of six prisons under direct state administration.
