More than 300 intellectuals, writers, journalists, political leaders and activists expressed their support for Venezuela and denounced “the destabilizing operation of imperialism”.

Through a statement, personalities from the political world rejected the coup attempt after the presidential elections of July 28.

“After the historic presidential election of July 28, which marked the victory of Nicolás Maduro Moros for a third term, the destabilizing operation of imperialism has escalated in Venezuela, which was designed and implemented before, during and after the elections,” the text says.

In addition, they assured that the recorded acts of violence and vandalism demonstrate that the accusations of alleged fraud against the Venezuelan Government and the National Electoral Council (CNE) “are just the surface of a vast destabilizing plan that ultimately justifies even foreign military intervention.”

“All democratic forces in the region and in the international community must denounce, repudiate and vigorously reject coup attempts against the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,” the statement concluded, quoted by the media.

The statement was signed by the Nobel Peace Prize winner, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel; the former president of Honduras, Manuel Zelaya; the former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales; Abel Prieto, president of the House of the Americas; Ricardo Patiño, former foreign minister of Ecuador; Atilio Borón, Argentinian sociologist and writer; Ignacio Ramonet, Spanish journalist and writer; Fernando Buen Abad, Mexican philosopher and writer; among others.
