In two weeks! 62 medium and highly complex surgeries were performed in Trujillo

A total of 62 medium and highly complex surgeries were performed during the last two weeks at the Doctor José Gregorio Hernández hospital in the Trujillo municipality.

According to information published on the web portal of the newspaper Última Noticias, the specialties treated were gynecology, traumatology, pediatric and general surgery, neurology and plastic surgery.

While the pathologies were inguinal and umbilical hernias, uterine myomatosis, hysterectomies, gallstone, femur, third and radius fractures; supracondylar humerus, craniotomy and disc herniation.

Milagros Cadenas, director of the health center, said that the medical team evaluated the children who will soon undergo surgery “remembering that 11 infants were recently operated on for inguinal and umbilical hernias and obstructive phimosis, as well as for femur diaphysis, supracondylar humerus, fractures of the humerus, femur, tibia and fibula.”

With regard to highly complex interventions, he specified that during the first trimester, a total of 19 highly complex neurological surgeries were performed in this health center.

Through these surgical interventions, attention was given to cervical and lumbar pathologies, craniotomies, cervical prosthesis, disc herniation and laminectomies, he explained.
