On September 25, 1828 , the Liberator Simon Bolivar escaped the assassination attempt, with the support of Manuela Saénz, who, with her courageous determination, managed to get the Father of the Fatherland to evade the group of mercenaries that the New Granada oligarchy had hired through the traitor Francisco de Paula Santander, in Bogotá.

The operation was known as the Septembrine Conspiracy, from which the leader of the emancipatory feat was unharmed, thanks to the fact that Manuela, with her cunning, was able to discover the plan that was intended against the Liberator's house, so she alerted the sentinels and entered Bolívar's room, where after warning him, she persuaded him to flee and take cover, since he intended to confront the attackers with his gun and sabre.

Bolívar initially tried to forgive those who were considered to be conspirators, members of the Santander faction. It was decided to subject them to martial justice, after which those accused of being directly involved were shot.

Santander himself, who had known about the conspiracy in advance and had not directly opposed it because of his differences with Bolívar, went into exile, so Rafael Urdaneta, convinced of his guilt, condemned him for not having prevented the attack against the supreme leader of the nation.
