The arrival to the Presidency of the Republic of Commander Hugo Chávez brought innumerable benefits for Venezuela and one of them was the brotherhood with the island of Cuba, which since 1994, when for the first time the leader of the Bolivarian Revolution met with the Commander Fidel Castro and to date, it has been absolute.

Havana witnessed this first meeting, which marked a milestone in the history of America and which signified the hope of peoples determined to be free. Two giants of the world, two rebels by birth, two lights in the midst of darkness and imperial aggression.

Fidel and Chávez not only created a relationship of heads of state, they were friends, they were brothers through thick and thin. In fact, today, 30 years after that meeting, Havana and Caracas maintain close ties of unity, solidarity and cooperation.
