How does fascism operate in Latin America? Elon Musk as the new leader of the Venezuelan right

As we explained in the previous article, with regard to the emerging financial and technological aristocracy that has been taking certain steps in Latin America, the link between regional neofascists and these characters is not new: since July 2019, Elon Musk and Jair Bolsonaro began their ties after a visit by the tycoon to Brazil, while Argentine President Milei makes monthly visits to the United States with a rich agenda of agreements with technology entrepreneurs.

According to orders issued by the International Intelligence Agency (CIA), in Venezuela, with the explicit support of Musk, who operates as a central actor, an artillery of disinformation and false news was deployed on social networks, together with María Corina's “Comanditos” Machado who activated pockets of violence, as part of the strategy of ignoring the results of the electoral process that occurred on 28J.

Musk, from his personal account, in line with the radical Venezuelan opposition, ignored the authority of the National Electoral Council (CNE), enacted the victory of the candidate imposed by Machado, disseminated the parallel counting website, instigated violence against President Nicolás Maduro , called on the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to revolt, shared a request for the arrest of the Organization of American States (OAS) against the president and the offer of a million-dollar reward for information that would serve to arrest him.

What is Musk looking for in Venezuela?

Nothing is coincidental, in the Venezuelan case, the importance lies in the fact that it is clear that the country has an enormous reserve of lithium and coltan, the so-called “blue gold”, demanded by the technological industries for the manufacture of chips, batteries, smartphones, computers and other electronic devices.

It is also the sixth natural gas reserve in the world, the tenth in diamonds, the largest gold reserve in the entire American continent, and it also has large reserves of water, biodiversity, as well as iron and other mineral resources. The possession of natural resources explains the reason why the U.S. empire is coordinating a destabilization in the country.

Now, the most lethal weapon to seize these resources is the manipulation of minds as a target of war. This strategy has become a decisive element complemented by coups d'etat involving irregular forces, in addition to the manipulation of judicial , constitutional and electoral mechanisms.

Today, authoritarian governments have understood that controlling the narrative on the internet is key to consolidating their power. Platforms such as WhatsApp, X, TikTok and Facebook are used for mass manipulation of public opinion. It was striking that President Nicolás Maduro publicly withdrew from WhatsApp as a way to identify and denounce his power and interference; when it became known that this platform, in the best Nazi style, released the telephone numbers of thousands of Chavista militants. The sovereign action emphasized the need to highlight the influence of digital communication and resistance against foreign domination.

Cognitive warfare, cyberwar and the use of the new means of elaborating common sense, which are social networks, have been put at the service of so-called soft or institutional coups, and an example of this were the guarimbas led by the Venezuelan opposition in which they functioned as organizational tools, through accounts such as Anonymous Venezuela from where they sent coordinates to that the demonstrators would generate chaos and violence.

In the research carried out by experts Paula Giménez and Matías Caciabue called “Neofascisms in the region: virtual territory as an environment for the construction of power ”, it is explained that “everything is articulated in the well-known structures of the extreme right in the region, which include companies transnational corporations, Think Tanks, foundations, leaders and former leaders, NGOs, media, social networks and drug trafficking cartels, all of these run by the CIA.”

The permanent psychological attack through a global communication campaign led by Elon Musk added to the prominence of the regional block of neofascist governments such as that of Argentina, Paraguay, Ecuador, Peru , Panama, Uruguay , Chile, Costa Rica and Guatemala, willing to intervene together with Luis Almagro and the OAS, give an account of the functioning of a Fascist International, no longer occupied with deploying regular tanks and armies, but aimed directly at destroying the human capacity to critically discern between what happens in reality and what the great centers of ideological reproduction relate.
