Unfortunately, this Tuesday, April 9th, the teacher and former governor of Barinas, Hugo de Los Reyes Chávez, father of Commander Hugo Chávez, passed away.

This was announced by her granddaughter María Gabriela Chávez through the social network Instagram. “My little grandfather, thank you for your love, your teachings and your infinite humility. Until always, Hugo de Los Reyes Chávez. Fly high my old beloved!” , he wrote.

Hugo de los Reyes Chávez was born in Barinas on January 6, 1933, father of Commander Hugo Chávez and Adán Chávez, he worked as a politician and elementary school teacher.

He was governor of his native state, Barinas, for 10 years, when he was re-elected by the Pueblo Llanero a couple of times (1998-2000, 2000-2004 and 2004-2008).
