Venezuelan Carlos Mendoza made history by becoming the first rookie manager to lead the New York Mets to the postseason in his first year in command, in Major League Baseball (MLB).
This Monday, the Mest beat the Atlanta Braves 8-7, thus securing a place in the wild card round with a record of 89-72.
“I am very proud of this team. Each of them has done their best and together we have achieved this goal,” Mendoza said after the exciting commitment, Meridiano press reviews.
Mendoza joins Oswaldo Guillén as the only Venezuelans to have led a team in the major leagues in the postseason.
The Metropolitans will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Wild Card Series.
