This Wednesday, Venezuelan pitcher Ángel Padrón made
history by achieving a “no hit no run” in the match between the Tiburones de
La Guaira, from Venezuela, and the Giants de Rivas, from Nicaragua, to advance in the Caribbean
Series held in Miami, United States (USA).
Padrón became the second pitcher in the history
of the event to throw a game without hits or runs, achieving a 9-0 victory
for Venezuela, in which the Venezuelan pitcher gave away a single passport and struck out four rivals.
“The no hit no run, thank God for him and for
us, makes me very happy,” said the manager of the sharks Oswaldo
Gillén, at the press conference following such an important feat, where he revealed
that after the seventh inning, if they connected an unstoppable, they would
replace him and that in that same episode he asked him how he felt because it was his duty to follow that strategy.
The strategic scorer gives additional value to that achievement
of the left-handed starter, considering that the fundamental thing about that start, beyond the
game without hits or runs, is that it helped him to keep his relievers.
“The most important thing that (Ángel) did for us is that he defended the bullpen for us, for tomorrow (February 8). As a manager, that's the most important thing for me,” Guillén said.
For this
Thursday's match, Venezuela will have all its relief against Curaçao.
