This Friday, October 30, the national coordinator of the Venezuelan Green Party, Heryck Rangel, speaking on the protection of the national environment, assured that “we are demonstrating how we can generate public policies with citizen participation, that belong to each of the communities in the preservation of their spaces.”

During an interview with Venezolana de Televisión (VTV), Rangel recalled that the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, signed an agreement to join the International Alliance of Big Cats, which the coordinator of the Green Party considered relevant due to the presence of jaguars and pumas in the national territory.

In the same way, he noted advances in ecological matters, such as considerable investments for the preservation of fauna and flora, the development of experience with wildlife preservation centers, as well as the work of Venezuelan scientists, who focus on the study, accompaniment and development of technologies for the preservation of animal species, as well as mechanisms for their reproduction.

Rangel took the opportunity to warn that the Venezuelan nation is facing challenges due to invasive species such as Unomia stolonifera coral and lionfish, whose presence is being tried to eliminate using methods that are as least invasive as possible; to this end, joint work is being carried out between scientists and inhabitants of local fishing communities.

“This should bring together all regions, fishermen, tourist service providers and human beings are not owners of the planet, we are part of it,” he emphasized.
