Hernández Lárez: FANB deployed against illegal mining in Amazonas

The Strategic Operational Commander of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (CEO-FANB), GJ. Domingo Hernández, reported that the military corps is deployed to defend the state of Amazonas from illegal mining.
“Within the framework of Operation Mist 2024, #FANB is deployed exercising national sovereignty against criminal illegal mining groups that cross security and defense areas at our borders to commit ecocide in the territory of the Amazon state,” Hernández Lárez said through the social network X.

He also reminded citizens of the prohibited activities inside national parks:

1. Agricultural crops in general, commercial or subsistence breeding of domestic animals, agroforestry or agro-silvo-pastoral activities and commercial aquaculture.

2. Mining and the exploitation of hydrocarbons.

3. The construction of any type of power generation plant.

4. The construction of marginal dams to watercourses and similar hydraulic works.

5. Forest use.

6. Forest plantations of any type, as well as the introduction and planting of exotic plants, with the exception of planting shrubs and herbs of ornamental value in gardens in service areas.

7. Non-artisanal industries.

8. Any type of commercial establishment, except for sales of “souvenirs”, local handicrafts and public service concessions provided within the park.

9. The installation of billboards and commercial advertisements.

10. Urban developments and human settlements.

11. Urbanizations and tourist clubs, public or private.

12. The experimentation and manipulation of the renewable natural resources contained in the area, for the purpose of their commercial or livelihood use.

13. Any other expressly prohibited due to the special characteristics of the area, in its corresponding planning and management plan and respective regulations of use.
