Henri Pittier: Father of Botany in Venezuela (+seeding)

On January 27, 1950, Henri Pittier, a Swiss engineer, geographer and naturalist, died, who excelled in his scientific research in Venezuela since 1919, being a pioneer in the creation of National Parks.
Considered to be the father of botany in Venezuela, he was the author of nearly 290 scientific works, offering great contributions to the country in this area, for which he held important positions, such as director of the Cajigal Observatory, where he managed to acquire atmospheric measurement instruments and until the end of his life, at 93, he was head of the Botanical Service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock.
Among the magazines and publications he founded in Venezuela, the Commercial Museum and the Commercial and Industrial Bulletin stand out, but his greatest legacy is the creation of the National Park System in the country, where there are a total of 43 national parks throughout the territory.
