School enrollment in Venezuela has continued to grow, rising from September to November to 5,900,000, some 400,000 more students, Education Minister Héctor Rodríguez reported Wednesday from the Juárez Theater in Barquisimeto, Lara state, during a meeting with school principals from the entity.
Rodríguez pointed out that any child or young person who wishes to return to school, either because they return from a migratory process, or because they have deserted for another reason, must be received and enrolled without obstacles. “Let's not be bureaucratic with children,” he said.
The minister, according to a press release from the Ministry of Education, reiterated that the mosaic schedule must end and complete the full class hours; at which point significant progress has been made.
On the other hand, Héctor Rodríguez asked teachers to be trained in the task of directing. “I need time for my directors to learn the task of directing, to be trained in the task of directing,” he added.
In the same way, he said that the daily supervision of the school or lyceum should not be carried out via WhatsApp. “Supervision is face-to-face support, you must verify attendance, enrollment, the state of the institution's infrastructure (...) Supervision is for correction, for improvement,” Rodríguez said.
