The National Public Health System established operational priorities for the remainder of 2026, with an emphasis on the supply of medicines and supplies, the recovery of healthcare facilities and the maintenance of equipment.
“Our priority is to articulate all the capacities and institutions of the State to guarantee the Venezuelan people decent, free, efficient and quality medical care,” said the Minister of Health, Carlos Alvarado, during a meeting with vice-ministers, managers and other representatives.
During the day, as reported by the Venezuelan News Agency (AVN), the progress of the National Surgical Plan, the strengthening of the primary care network through the Comprehensive Community Health Areas (ASIC) and Barrio Adentro, as well as the expansion of immunization coverage and follow-up to pregnant and lactating women were evaluated.
Planned actions include streamlining the distribution of medicines and essential supplies, boosting infrastructure recovery through the José Gregorio Hernández Plan and ensuring the operation of X-ray, tomography and laboratory equipment in ASIC.
They also agreed to strengthen the Communal Self-Government Chambers and expand house-to-house approaches through territorial brigades.
