The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, urged condominium councils this Wednesday to join efforts with the Executive to ensure comprehensive care for adults and older adults in their communities.

“I also ask you, as an organized community that you are, to be aware of our older adults,” the president urged during an assembly with Condominium Boards of Caracas, after the National Popular Consultation last Sunday, October 18.

In this sense, he proposed a care plan, “where the nursing staff goes to see where grandparents are alone, grandmothers alone, because that is an age where loneliness is felt. But if we as a community are not aware of our grandparents, our grandmothers, our older adults, those who are sick, those with disabilities, we cannot leave them alone or adrift,” he said.

The State Department reiterated its request “that we work together to care for our older adults. We are going, like condominium councils, to force ourselves for our older adults and we are going to provide all the support in food, care and health so that they really feel accompanied,” he said.
