President Nicolás Maduro highlighted this Wednesday the process of drafting the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, as the first major step in the Bolivarian Revolution led by Commander Hugo Chávez.
From the Federal Legislative Palace, during the Installation of the National Electoral Commission for the Election of Justices of the Peace, the Head of State emphasized that it was a “great process of collective national elaboration (...) national pride, shield, defense and sword of our Fatherland, moral and spiritual strength”.
He pointed out that “the first step taken by our revolution, with our beloved Commander at the helm, was to make a Constituent Revolution, to establish the framework of dreams and the legal framework that, with the letter of letters, the Magna Carta was going to cross the country.”
The Dignitary recalled that 25 years ago, around this time, “we were already in the consultation phase, the constitutional text had already been approved and we took to the streets of the cities, neighborhoods and towns of the country to seek the vote, because it is the only Constitution in the 200-year history of the Republic that was brought up for debate and that the people voted in a sovereign manner that December 15, 1999, no one else did it, Hugo Chávez did it, to make it burn to imperialism, to the last names and it burns to the enemies of Venezuela wherever they are”.
