The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, called on the People to a popular consultation for a constitutional reform and to include a life sentence for crimes of treason against the Fatherland and against the People.

“I call on the People to this debate and I call on the People to a constitutional reform to introduce life imprisonment into our Constitution so that these people (corrupt and traitors to the country) rot for life in prison.”

With regard to this initiative, the Head of State specified that some comrades of the Revolution have betrayed the Fatherland, “but the more painful is the harm they have done to the People, we have to be relentless no matter what they fall”.

In that regard, he reiterated his commitment to Venezuelans, “you know that you are counting on me, I will never fail you neither against corruption nor against conspiracy, I will never fail the People.”
