The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, paid tribute this Wednesday to the revolutionary leader Ezequiel Zamora, on the 164th anniversary of the day that a treacherous bullet ended the life of one of the most outstanding heroes of Venezuelan independence.

“We honor the life of the General of the Sovereign People, Ezequiel Zamora, one of the most important popular leaders in our history, who was assassinated on a day like today, leaving as an inspirational legacy for our people a life of revolutionary struggle marked by heroism, detachment and patriotic love,” said the head of state through his account on the social network X.

Zamora died in the vicinity of the current Casa Zamora, on Avenida Bolívar de San Carlos, the capital of Cojedeña, facing the San Juan Bautista church, on January 10, 1860.
