Head of State: Operation “Catatumbo Lightning” has started

The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the start of Operation Catatumbo Lightning, in connection with the Popular, Military and Police Exercise Bolivarian Shield 2025.

In this regard, he explained that this operation is being carried out “throughout the border region with our sister Colombia, all the regions of the north of Táchira bordering the North of Santander, up to the regions of Zulia”.

The head of state assured that with the efforts of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), it has “succeeded in liberating and keeping the entire territory of Venezuela free from clandestine tracks, the planting of coca leaves and a cocaine factory laboratory and these disturbing elements in a nation.”

He also reported that in coordination with the Government of the Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, “an idea of binational, integrated, economic and social development, with a profoundly human and also unitary character among our peoples, is being worked on. We cry out for Peace and will always be willing to build the paths of Colombian-Venezuelan integration and brotherhood!
