Head of State on the reopening of the Technical Office of the High Commissioner of Human Rights: I agree that we should overcome differences

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during joint statements with the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Karim Khan, reported that he supports the reopening of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations (UN) in the country.

“I have received the proposal to invite again the opening of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, VolkerTürk, to be in our country in Venezuela, I agree that we overcome the differences, the conflict we had and I am ready to receive the UN envoy, VolkerTürk,” said the Head of State, from the Simon Bolivar Hall of the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas.

In his message, the Venezuelan Head of State reiterated that the Venezuelan government is keeping its doors open to receive the head of the Americas, Europe and Central Asia Branch of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), José María Aranaz.

“Whenever I want, wherever I want, and let's talk about the differences we have, the conflict that has arisen and we will overcome it, of course,” he reaffirmed.
