The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted this Monday the consolidation of participatory and leading democracy, with increasing power for the People, contrary to the model proposed by the extreme right in the spaces where it governs.

During the 66th broadcast of his program With Maduro+, the Head of State emphasized that the Government is in “permanent action to continue shoring up the path of the recovery of Venezuela, of the peace of our country, of the empowerment of the people”.

He stated that “a true democracy is one that has a conscious, active, participating, thinking, speaking, thinking, expressing opinion, mobilized (...) the rest are those that have been known in 60, 70 years, bourgeois, representative, false democracies where they only take people into account when there are elections”.

The Dignitary gave as an example of bad governance the recently arrested former mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina. “Tremendous bandit, tremendous corrupt, he went to get the votes, he won the election for us, a type of right-wing from the remnants of those who call Justice First. What he had in the Mayor's Office was rotten, but he never went to a neighborhood, but he never served the people and what they did was steal the taxes, what they collected, what they sent him from here, everything”, criticized Maduro.

He pointed out that Ramírez Colina was already preparing to deceive people heading for the 2025 municipal elections. “Once again to set up the troupe, the farce and there are people who allow themselves to be deceived (...) it is a permanent struggle to build a new type of democracy, I make this comment because we have to see what is called the comparison, we have to compare the efforts we make since the Revolution, from the revolutionary government, from the Bolivarian Government to build something new for our Homeland, a direct democracy that serves the people, a State that serves the People and not a People that serves who run the State,” he stressed.
