The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, welcomed this Tuesday that former US President Donald Trump has recognized that the sanctions applied by imperialism are a mistake.

During the meeting of the Federal Governing Council, the Head of State noted that many countries have suffered, noting that Venezuela has been the victim of more than 930 sanctions. “You have to face the fact that someone takes 99% of your income away, that you take 99% of your income from a country and you raise your head and say 'we don't give up, we're going to keep working, we're going to articulate a strategy',” he said.

In this regard, he said he agreed with the former president and US candidate. “That's why I'm glad that Donald Trump has recognized that sanctions are a mistake because he was the one who put all the sanctions on the nation.”

“If my plane hadn't been stolen in the Dominican Republic I would have gone there (Trump-Harris debate), they left me without a plane, the thief of the president of the Dominican Republic (Luis) Abinader, who is a bandit, the people of the Dominican Republic will pass on their account in due course,” said President Maduro.

He stressed that Trump “has recognized that sanctions are a mistake, that they weaken the currency, the dollar, they weaken the United States economy. The sanctions against Venezuela were a shot in the foot given to the United States,” he emphasized.

He added that “the times of imperialism, threats, blockades and sanctions have passed, they cannot return to Venezuela, nor to any country in Latin America and the Caribbean.”
