During the meeting of the Portugal-Venezuela Business Forum held in the city of Caracas, the President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez Gómez, extended a firm invitation to the Portuguese delegation and to the various European communities that live in the country to consolidate projects aimed at the socio-economic growth of the nation.

The national president highlighted the historic integration of foreign colonies, “I extend my hand to them as president in charge so that we can build that future together. There are European communities in Spanish and Italian Venezuela that have also made themselves felt in the beating of the soul of the Venezuelan people, and I ask those communities that are here today, that believed in Venezuela, that stayed and found opportunities, to continue to march with us.”

“I thank Minister Castro Almeida and his delegation for their government's support during the double earthquake. Portugal declared a day of national mourning and we know that they mourned not only for those of Portuguese origin who died, but for their Venezuelan brothers. Thank you Portugal for the support they gave us, for the rescuers and for the humanitarian aid that arrived in our homeland, making us feel like brothers,” he stressed.

Rodríguez concluded with a call for economic cooperation, quoting the famous writer Luís de Camões: “I know that the business group is already finding ways to participate in this recovery process; we are going to make Venezuela better hand in hand with our communities. 'Times change, the whole world is made of changes, always acquiring new qualities'. I invite you to let these new qualities build Venezuela's new era and to do so always inspired by our poets.”
