The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated this December 10 the 164th anniversary of the Battle of Santa Inés, a historic event led by the General of the Sovereign People, Ezequiel Zamora, who led the triumph of the Federal War.

“164 years ago, under the command of Ezequiel Zamora, federal forces defeated the troops of the conservative oligarchy in the Battle of Santa Inés, a decisive contest, during the Federal War, in which the voice of: “Land and free men!” , the General of the Sovereign People demonstrated his patriotic commitment and great value as commander,” wrote the head of state in his account on the social network X.

The President included audiovisual material, in which Commander Hugo Chávez praises the struggle in Zamora.

The head of state also highlighted the heroic feat of Ezequiel Zamora.

“On December 10, 1859, the popular army that had been betrayed by Páez and the oligarchy won the victory in Santa Inés and defeated the heirs of the colony: the Goths, the conservatives and the landlord oligarchy. The power that Zamora managed to transmit to the people, faith, trust in the people and in their powers marked the egalitarian, rebellious character of Venezuelans,” he recalled.
