President Nicolás Maduro Moros commemorated, through his Telegram channel, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho.
“Today is the great day on which we proudly celebrate the Bicentenary of the Battle of Ayacucho, that heroic epic that took place there in the Pampa de la Quinua, Peru, in which our Liberation Army, under the command of Grand Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, definitively freed America from the Spanish yoke, a peak moment in our history that lasts for centuries,” wrote the president.
He also reiterated his words of admiration for the heroes of the Liberation Army, “who put together the feat, unique in human history, of building popular armies and forging Republics, expelling from these lands the colonial empire that plunged the continent into centuries of darkness”.
“Now more than ever, we honor the heroic and great deeds of our liberators who forged the glorious destiny of these lands,” he said.
