Head of State awards National Journalism Award: With the truth they do justice in our country

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, presented this Monday the Simon Bolivar National Journalism Award to the winners of this 2024 edition in different areas of communication.

From the Ayacucho Hall of the Miraflores Palace, the Head of State exalted “the communicators who carry the truth in the media and networks and with the truth do justice in our country”.

Rosita Caldera received the Simon Bolivar Single Journalism Award for her career in professional practice and in complying with the doctrine and ethical principles of defense as an indispensable norm in good journalism.

In the Printed category, Mercedes Chacín, Francys Zambrano and Ricardo Romero, a team from Ciudad Caracas, received it for their cover book Essequibo: Peace and Sovereignty.

Special recognition for journalism was granted to Radio YVKE Mundial, for its eighty years on the air, which makes the station a reference for Venezuelan radio broadcasting, disseminating timely, truthful and relevant information on current events, through its information, musical and opinion programs committed to the popular classes.

The National Prize for Journalism on Television was won by journalist Luis Guillermo García, for his program The World from the South, broadcast by TELESUR, where he offers analysis and perspectives on current world events, from the perspective of the peoples in Our America.

Esther Quiaro received the award for the “Economics Podcast”, which totals twenty-five episodes broadcast through the news portal La Iguana, as an initiative to analyze information on economic issues.

The Special Prize was also awarded in recognition of Julián Assange for claiming courageous journalism without fear in the era of truth as the essence for defending freedom of expression and the right of peoples to be informed.
