The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, this Wednesday compared the independence of 200 years ago with the current one, stressing the importance of scientific and technological sovereignty.
“In the 21st century, unlike all other centuries, science, technology, research, innovation mark the development of the entire society, mark the development of the economy, agriculture, health, education, coexistence, communication, information, it truly marks everything,” said the Head of State during the inspection of the progress made in the construction of the headquarters of the University of Sciences Dr. Humberto Fernández Morán.
From Miranda state, he pointed out that “if 200 years ago the struggle for independence was a political struggle for the existence of our nationality, for the existence of our way of being, for the existence of our America (...) if the independence of the 19th century was political, geopolitical, the independence of the 21st century is scientific, technological, educational, cultural and economic”.
He stressed that “economically we have made great progress, in education we have great challenges for the educational revolution (...) culturally we are going with the Great Mission Viva Venezuela My Dear Homeland riding a new era of national identity, beautiful, beautiful and colorful, and in science and technology, articulated to art, culture, education, the great spirituality of Venezuela, we are going with the Great Mission Science, Technology and Innovation”.
